Rocky
is a pure bred Boxer. He was dropped off at one of our
local vet offices to be euthanized. Why you ask? Well,
the people just didn't want him anymore. We thought
that maybe something might be wrong with his behavior
so we temperment tested him. He did great! He is learning
to walk on a leash and is also learning that a crate
can be a good thing. He has been neutered and has been
fully vaccinated. He is being treated for Ehrlichia
which he contracted from a tick bite. Want to learn
more about Ehrlichia
he does have Ehrlichia he does not appear to be sick
at all. He is a very happy active boy. He is about a
year old and ready to find his forever home. Contact
us if you would like to see more pictures of Rocky.
LAYLA
Layla
is a brindle German Shepherd mix about 1 ½ -
2 years old and weighing approximately 40 pounds. We
estimate that she was born in January of 2007. She is
"short and sweet." This little lady is leash
trained, house trained, spayed, and up to date on all
vaccinations. She receives monthly heartworm and flea
& tick preventatives. Layla has a great personality
and is ready to be loved by her human family. Call Cathy
at the Pickett County Humane Society for more information
on Layla.
SKIPPER
Ok,
I'm not a dog. My foster mom normally supplies foster
space for dogs, but she could not turn me away. I am
a BEAUTIFUL purebred Himalayan. I'm 2 years old and
ready to start my forever life with you. I am an indoor
cat only. I wouldn't know how to survive outside. I
have not been declawed but just give me a scratching
post and I'm fine. I am very friendly and love to play
with you. Wouldn't you like to add me to your family?
You would not be sorry.
MEGAN
Megan,
an Australian Cattle Dog mix, is one of our newer foster
dogs. Although she hasn't been with us very long, she
is being crate trained, house trained, and leash trained.
We think she was born around the beginning of March,
2008. She is on heartworm preventative and receives
monthly applications of flea & tick preventative
also. She is current on her shots and vaccinations.
A loving family will help this little rescue dog feel
safe and secure. Cathy is ready to answer your questions
about Megan. Contact her at realitchec@hotmail.com or
call the Pickett County Humane Society.
KEBBLER
Kebbler
is a wonderful dog. He is a Terrier mix. He gets along
great with other dogs, is 18 months old, Neutered and
am updating his shots. He is HW neg, weighs around 20
lbs, love the outdoors, is crate trained, housebroken
and loves to sleep with you. He hates mice and moles.
Loves to play and a great companion. He loves to play
with pails and throw in the air and try and catch them.
SALLY
ANN
Sally
is a 6 month old German Shepard mix. She is a pure delight.
She is smart and beautiful. She was a lucky stray that
found her way to foster care. She is spay and is current
on all vaccinations. She loves to play, gets along well
with other dogs. Has been around cats.
Buster
Buster
is a wonderful dog and small enough to fit in almost
anyones house or apartment. He weighs about 15
pounds. He is a rat terrier mix. He is approximately
1 ½ to 2 years old. He loves to sleep with you,
sometimes under the covers. He loves attention and affection.
He gets along with other dogs, but occasionally wants
to show someone who is boss. Probably would do better
in a one or two dog family.
Casper
Casper
is a wonderful dog. We have had him since he was about
4 mos. old. He is a very muscular dog. He wants lots
and lots of affection and love. He is always coming
up to you and wanting his belly scratched. He would
do better in a one dog home or possibly with one other
dog just because he wants so much attention..
Shelly
- (courtesy posting)
Shelly
is just a puppy. She is between 4 and 5 months old.
She doesnt weigh more than 15 pounds, so is not
going to be a very big dog. She loves attention and
gets along well with other dogs and people.
MISTY
Misty is a 1-2 year
old Australian Cattle dog. She is shy around men and
we think she may have been abused at some point in
her life by a man. Otherwise, she is a friendly dog.
She is doing well on a leash and is already crate
trained. She has been spayed and is current on all
vaccinations.
AL
Al is an American
Bulldog mix. He is approximately 2 years old. We think
he was probably hit by a car when he was younger because
he has a limp. He still limps a little but is showing
some improvement. He is very gentle with people, and
you can literally take the food out of his mouth. He
does not want to share "his" people with anyone
else especially other dogs. We recommend that
he not be around livestock or adopted into a family
that has other dogs. Al behaves very well inside and
is housebroken and crate trained. He needs work on leash
training. He is neutered and current on all vaccinations.
CINNAMON
- I'm Adopted!!
This
beauty was found hanging around a barn in our rural
community. She was named Cinnamon by the lady who found
her and asked us to find her a good home. Cinnamon appears
to be a full-blooded Weimaraner. She has a smooth, sleek
coat and amber eyes. She has been spayed and is current
on her shots. New to us, she is naturally a bit timid
and shy. She is learning to walk on a leash. We estimate
her birth date to be in September of 2007. She is thin
and weighs 54 pounds, but now that she's in foster care
she'll gain a few pounds. For more information on Cinnamon,
e-mail Cathy at realitchec@hotmail.com or call the Pickett
County Humane Society.
PAMMY
I'm
Pamela Sue; how do you do? I love everybody and would
love to be your friend. My foster parents call me Pammy.
They think I might be a Fox Terrier/Chihuahua mix. Whatever
I am, they know I'm a very cute and very sweet little
dog. I've had all my shots and I can't have babies because
I was spayed. I'm crate trained, house trained, and
leash trained. I'm a very good girl, if I say so myself.
I love to sit on laps and have you pay attention to
me, but I can be quiet in my crate if you're too busy
to pay attention to me. I like to play with toys and
chew on nylabones. I'm about 15 pounds and was probably
born in January, 2008. Cathy's e-mail is realitchec@hotmail.com.
Just ask her if I'm not the perfect pet!
FLOWER
Flower
is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees. We think she was born
in February, 2007. Flower is looking for someone
who will show her that people can be kind. She has
a pancreatic insufficiency that requires daily medication.
Call Cathy at the Pickett County Humane Society
if you have room in your heart and home for a girl
that is beautiful both inside and out.
Sally
Sally
is about 1 1/2 years old. She would do best as in
a single dog family. She loves human attention and
prefers that she doesn't have to share it. She is
an English Springer Spaniel/Lab mix.
Spudz
This
little poodle has had a rough life and is ready to find
his new family. We believe that Spudz came from a puppy
mill. We estimate his age to be approximately 2-3 years.
When he came into rescue he could not see because of
hair matted over his eyes. One of his back legs was
also matted to his stomach and he couldn't walk on it.
He has been in foster care now for a couple of months
and has recovered very well. He does have a problem
with his back hips due to an old injury but it doesn't
slow him down at all. He has been neutered and is current
on all of his vaccinations. He is ready to find his
forever home. He will require some patience at first
but he is a real sweetheart. We feel that Spudz would
do best in a home without small children. He gets along
fine with cats.
Scrappy
Scrappy
was rescued from an animal abuse case. She is a Lab/Hound
mix. She was suffering from malnutrition, and she was
very much afraid of people. After a lot of veterinary
attention and love, she is now happy, healthy and trusts
people more than before. She is a little over 1 year
old, spayed, has all vaccinations, and is on heartworm
and flea and tick preventative. If you want more information
on Scrappy you can contact Vicky at 931-823-3228
Kipper
Kipper
was turned over to us by a person whose dog had puppies.
Kipper is a Jack Russell/Aussie mix. He is about 8 months
old and all puppy. He is neutered, up to date on all
shots and is on heartworm and flea and tick preventative.
He has lots of energy and loves kids. If you want more
information on Kipper you can contact Vicky at 931-823-3228.
Sally
Sally is an Australian
Shepard mix who was surrendered by her owner. She is 10
months old, spayed, and has received all of her vaccinations.
She ison heartworm and flea and tick preventative. She
loves to run and chase cats, but she won't hurt them.
She just wants to play. She is very friendly but needs
patience when she first meets someone. She tends to be
a bit fearful of strangers. If you want more information
on Sally you can contact Vicky at 931-823-3228.
Feisty
When
Feisty first came to us, she had recently had puppies
that died at birth. There were a few problems, but this
young lady managed to overcome them all. She weighs
about 45 pounds. We estimate her birth date as September,
2005. She is a Mountain Feist and enjoys lots of exercise.
She is somewhat shy at first but doesn't take long to
warm up. We don't know about her background, but we
do know that she would love to have a home and family
to call her own. Feisty is spayed and is up to date
on shots. She gets along well with people and other
animals. If you are interested in learning more about
Feisty email or call Cathy at the Pickett County Humane
Society.
Dee
Dee
Dee
Dee is a black lab mix that we estimate was born late
in 2003. She could tell you a long sad story of being
turned out of her home by an owner who decided he no
longer wanted her. As she wandered around looking for
a new home, we think she may have had an accident that
caused her to limp. One day an old neighbor of hers
saw her by the roadside and took her to our foster home
where she was taken in immediately. She does limp but
can still run and play with the other dogs. Dee Dee
is spayed and up to date on all her vaccinations. Sometimes
she is a bit bossy with the other dogs probably
because she has been at the foster home longer than
any of the others. She may be wondering why she hasn't
been adopted yet she has watched many others come
and go. Won't you give Dee Dee a chance to prove what
a nice pet she could be?
Scruffy
I'm
Scruffy, and I have a long story to tell. Actually,
I think I'll let Cathy, my foster mom, tell you the
details when you call to ask about me. I have a liver
shunt, which means that I don't digest my food properly.
It took a long time for the vet to find out what was
wrong with me. I had tests and special diets galore!
The Pickett County Humane Society and a generous donor
supplied enough money to have me evaluated at the University
of Tennessee Veterinary Hospital, and they decided to
treat me with herbal medicines and a special diet. Is
it any wonder that I want a lot of attention? I don't
like other animals. Give me a human any day! I'm a Jack
Russell born at the end of March in 2005. I'm housebroken,
leash trained and crate trained. I'm also spayed and
up to date on all vaccinations. I love my foster home,
but I think it's high time I got a home of my own. Wouldn't
you like to give me a chance?
Tess
I'm Tess, a Mountain
Feist who was born in November, 2005. I weigh about
40 pounds and I have energy to burn. I love to run around
and get lots of exercise. It helps me keep my girlish
figure. Did I tell you that I am quite a pretty young
dog? Well, I am. I'm also crate trained, leash trained,
and housebroken. Sometimes I'm a little shy but
not around other dogs. I really like them! But I really
do NOT like cats. Can you believe that I have never,
ever had a home of my own! Isn't that sad? I sure wish
some nice person would give me a chance to have a real
home. You can find out more about me if you talk to
Cathy at the Pickett County Humane Society.
