What should I expect when I meet the transport?
This is a very common question. Pictures are worth a thousand words. You can view some pictures of the transport at this website:
http://alphadogtransport.com/photos_transport.html
The transport driver is Jeff and his cell number is 774-641 3790. Please call Jeff either Friday evening or Saturday morning depending on your pick up point to find out how close to schedule he is running. They try very hard to stay as close to schedule as possible but this is not an exact science and things can happen to delay the transport no matter how hard they try. On occassion the transport can run early as well. If you contact them ahead of time this will avoid you having to sit there waiting. Please make sure you give yourself plenty of time to be at your pick up location on time. The transport runs on a tight schedule and needs to get to their next stop. Don't forget to take Jeff's cell number with you when you leave to go to meet the transport.
Food
Your dog/puppy has been eating Science Diet food. Below are the links to the puppy food and the adult food. Just so you know what the bag looks like. Of course you are more than welcome to change their food but please do it gradually. Below is the suggested method of doing the food change to avoid stomach upset that can sometimes be severe.

Gradual food change
We recommend switching to a new food gradually over the course of 7-10 days. For example, make a mixture that contains 25% of the new food and 75% of the old food and feed that for three days. Then make it 50-50 for three more days, then 75% new food and 25% old food for three more days. If your pet seems comfortable with this progression, you can start feeding 100% new food.
If at any time your dog or puppy starts vomiting, has loose stools, or appears constipated, slow the rate at which you are switching the food. And as always, if problems continue to occur, consult your veterinarian.
Payment
You will receive a package of paperwork when you pick up your dog/puppy. There will be one document that needs to be signed and returned on the adults and two documents that will need to be signed and returned on all of the puppies. When you return these documents to us you can include your adoption fee for $275.00. The address will be included on the documents. DO NOT PAY THE TRANSPORT. They have already been paid.
Finally
You can reach me at 931-319-1035 if you have any questions or concerns. Please keep me posted as to how your dog is progressing. Since we are all volunteers the updates that we get on our rescues is the thing that keeps us motivated to continue to do what we do. Rescue is a very hard job....because we can't save them all. We saved the life of the dog that you are getting and that makes us forever connected in some ways. |
